Ant Türkmen has completed Ph.D. in Hacettepe University, studying the taxonomy of Opisthobranchia. He worked as a marine biologist in international crude oil pipeline projects. He had participated in many projects about the ecology of mediterranean coast and important wetlands of Turkey, including sea turtle monitoring and conservation, coastal sensitivity risk analyse, biological control of harmful populations, prevention of habitat loss etc.

EMOP has emerged as an idea from the correspondences of Dr. Ant Turkmen with Dr. Swennen, who had carried out the one and only Opisthobranchia specific research in Turkey up to now.
